Yup this is right. Also even when all of the Emperor's wives are out of the picture their romance is still pretty angsty. The moment you thought there's actually no more obstacles another one just springs up from out of nowhere. But the whole development is good and the ending is good too.
It's GREAT.
More than the romance, I feel like the struggles of the wives can also take center stage.
They're women who were suppressed by patriarchy. In the future, you'll know how they were able to break through it, even just a little, just to make a new future for themselves
