I don't think the mom in this manga is against homosexuals, though. I think she's just confusing sexual orientation with gender identity. It's not that uncommon for older generations.
No... the way the mom reacted to learning that old man neighbor was gay was pretty darn homophobic. She tried to keep Keichii away from him which could also be her fear of her son being exposed to and mingling with other gay people. Or that just because he was gay that her son would be a romantic target. That's prejudice right there though he did semi-prey on a minor but its not like she knew that. She was also relieved when he dismissed being gay before reaffirming that he and his editor are actually gay.
I will agree that she may have confused gender identity with sexual orientation since... I don't know what being gay has to do with being a girl. Or that was the only way she could understanding a man loving another man in that one must be a girl.
My mom hates the idea of me being into the same gender and always gives me lectures about how "happiness" can only be achieved through a heterosexual relationship
It makes me so mad sometimes but I never say anything to her and just take the insults she throws at me
