it's not non-sense. it's called Stockholm syndrome and it's real. Pretty common (typical) in yaoi.

I hate weak and passive characters like sensei, but I want to see what happens, is he going commit suicide? will he resign? will he kill Shou? (unlikely), will he grow a pair and own his life? what? what? what?
