@lazyparrot and @disappointed: whatever made you feel like your words meant something when Iâm going by whatâs the norm in yaoi is beyond me. Before you start calling people names like âignorant,â why donât you start by paying attention to the fact that weâre discussing bedroom positions as per the way itâs generally portrayed in yaoi instead of getting all up in your feelings about how thatâs not not how it works in real life. Iâm too perplexed to even be mad, this shxt ridiculous.
I dont think u understood anything we have said sorry but if being called ignorant hurt u its probably cuz its true. God damn it, i know we are fighting over somthing not so important in your eyes but it still is so wrong to even discuss things like these when they negatively affect the queer community because they affect ur subconscious mind, i know thats how yaoi portrays top or bottom but it was literally written by straight women who dont know shit about gay men so we should all stop using these stereotypicall terms all together+ i dont care if yaoi portrays them like that its still wrong
⌠yeah, hurt isnât the word to describe how I feel. Annoyed is more like it. Annoyed because the top commenter was simply asking themselves a question based off what they know of yaoi. And now basically what youâre saying, is you took your own annoyance at how yaoi isn't a good representation of the gay community on the rest of us and decided to call people ignorant as if this was a platform meant for that specific topic: the misunderstanding of straight women toward the gay community.
If you want to start such a topic, then open or search for a platform thatâs meant for it. At least there, youâll have someone give you appropriate responses and maybe counter what you have to say by going about how yaoi was ironically created by women FOR women âand is distinct from homoerotic media marketed to gay men.â I remember researching it a long time ago because I was curious about the reason why girls, regardless of their sexual orientation, loved it. I mean if youâre going to criticize something, try to see where itâs coming from before jumping down peopleâs throats about what it is you believe they donât understand.
I understand yâall are mad because you see it as a misrepresentation of your community, but how about understanding its origins as well? Then if youâre still mad, then thatâs on you. But I personally found respect for the subject matter by understanding what led to it and how it was a helpful tool of sorts for women in Japan a long time ago.

Thereâs probably more source material out there.
First of i never critisized girls for reading BL, never said it was wrong, anybody can read it im not gatekeeping anything, but i just dont want these discussion being made (whos the top/bottom when they havent had sex or if its shounen ai because it really is hurtful towards the gay community).
I've also done my research and i know more than you think, i know its origin very well, and i dont have a problem with it.
Where i draw the line is here + dont twist my words to fit your own intentions i never said yaoi is a bad representation i was talking about the seme/uke situation and straight people getting to comfortable with these terms!
Hope this helps clear up the misunderstandings we had.
I mean nothing about the very first comment you dropped reflected that this was your thought process. And even so, youâd have a point if people were getting comfortable with those terms when they werenât addressing a yaoi they were reading. But you went off about how we donât know shxt as if we were discussing that in an entirely different setting. So this makes it even more puzzling to me.
Anyway, I said my piece and thatâs that.
Actually, my bad. Before you go off on me again: It wasnât your first reply the problem. The problem was that we were having two completely different conversations (you were mad at a term being used, I didnât know that and replied for the sake of what the first commenter meant and then you went off about ignorance and what not). It spiraled from there.
So who is the top? Cuz both seem like top to me
