what does a substitute mean at a business setting? substitute as in substitute or does it have a different meaning? or is it a mistranslation? because that mofo’s arrogance is way too big for a mere sub.

    I'm also not sure but I think it's like when someone absents and someone will took that person place until that person who absent came back to work

    The correct word would probably be a temp (for temporary), and yea they basically just replace a position until the company finds someone to permanently take it, or if the person is on leave or smth too.
