Lmao you ask in the site which is full of girls reading BL, so you'll obvously get mostly "no" answers.
And yeah, "no", is the right answer, but let's not brush aside how much famage yaoi can do to MLM just because "it's fiction." I personally have heard fujos call gay people "real life yaoi couples" and it's sooo damn uncalled for. It makes them uncomfortable and at some point impressionable girls start viewing MLM relationships as entretainment rather than their own people. I even had a friend (we're not friends anymore) who was homophobic but read BL bc, and I quote, "it was more of a fantasy."
If you are actually a decent human being who can separate fiction from reality, but above all can treat gay men with basic human decency, I don't think there's a problem, especially since nowadays more and more BL is becoming positive representstion rather than the old problematic rapey tropes, which is great!! Since it means that with good representation people (especially in japan) might start veiwing gay relationships in a more relaistic light and start to be more open about them. But let's not pretend thet BL does no damage to the gay community, bc that's simply not true either.
You guys know, my female friends are the ones who introduced the yaoi concept, but some of them ship people in our classes even if they're just totally friends and obsess over it, and two of them actually stalked them to "confirm" their suspicions, LIKE BRUH even if they're gay who are you to confirm? Like they're not even friends with them to begin with, why would they even bother about their issues. One of my friend pointed that the two guys are not gay at all, and the rest cancelled him out because apparently he's being homophobic.
Plus after I came out as bi, they ship me with every single dude out there who's good looking enough for them. At first it was fun but now it annoys me. I almost got on a date with a girl(like I'm attracted to both girls and guys) and the most obsessive one out my friends found out that we were hitting off nicely and literally ruined our date, and asserted that I'm gay and that I'm confused that I don't like girls, my other friends also said that but they didn't go as far as to publicly exclaim I'm gay and insult the girl of being homophobic. I'm not friends with the most obsessive ones anymore thankfully!
genuine question, is it bad for girls to be reading yaoi/bl?
