What you just described is pretty much the slice of life genre. So basically that's the whole point. A mellow down to earth story (for the most part) about their regular everyday life. No heavy tragedies or drama.
I've read slice of life (I enjoy them). It generally hinges on the character and the conflicts/drama are more daily-life-human things than big stuff. They tend to draw us by their charm or insights. This one didn't have enough charm or insights FOR ME to sustain interest. It started out charming, but sort of went blah for me. That's just a personal taste thing.
This manga really bores me now , no offense to anyone , but I'm droping it
