Wow this is actually so weird?? Korean novels RARELY get changed to this extent when adapted into manhwa format. Sure, maybe the artist adapting this doesn’t care much for the relationships+family side of the novel (aka treatment of his mother, defending his family), but I imagine that the Crown Prince introducing the MC as his Sworn Brother is a pretty important plot point… like, shit. I can alrdy tell the portrayal of relationships is gonna be absolute garbage in the manhwa adaptation lmfao.
The comparison is like:::
—in the novel: this is my sworn brother, my companion, my trusted ally, treat him well bcz he’s my - the CROWN PRINCE’s - sworn brother bitches, he’s *mine* I won’t let the 5th prince(?) take him to his side
—in the manhwa: and I present Ian Page, we know eachother a little but that’s it :P

actually, emphasizing his relationship with his family, especially her mother is an important point in the novel. in the next arc, a major event will happen because of his obsession towards his family and the precious person around him. when i said precious persons he actually want to protect, the crown prince is included.
in the novel, this scene is more memorable. ian actually went with her mom and every other ladies were talking about her since it’s the first time they saw her. they concluded that she’s a concubine because of her big ass. the princess arrived first and told them off. she said “i have a pretty big ass too, so does that mean i'm a concubine material?” ian told her mother to be more confident and proud and tell those people her son is the youngest 4th magician. she did it and they all shut up. the crown prince arrived late and ask what’s with the atmosphere and called out those who bullied ian’s mother. he actually calls ian’s mom as “sworn mother”. he also introduced ian as his sworn brother, not just ian page. i really think the manhwa is less impactful. i just wish they follow the well written novel more closely like the trash of count’s family.
