some people indeed bisexual but some are not, it's just coincidence that the person they're loving is the same sex that's why they don't feel the spark with another same sex people, because they don't feel romantically interested with them
i know the "i turn gay just because of you" trope is getting overused, moreover in bl genre so i'm understand where you're coming from. but sometimes it'd be indeed like that irl
I obviously am not criticising people who just happen to like a person of the same sex. Some irl people choose to identify as certain labels, but many may not. (However, I unfortunately noticed how those characters are always said to be either bi or gay. Which is where my comment stemmed from.)
Most of my favorite novels actually have MCs who only ever dated people of the opposite gender and suddenly fell for someone of the same gender. However they either
- explore the journey to accepting oneself (in most yaois it's only a few panels and the rest of the chapter is apology sex
- don't make a big deal out of it (sometimes I find it irrealistic, but the drama is not always necessary)
- they actually admit they may have been "wrong" for always thinking they could only be straight.
My problem really is cishet women authors who have done no research in the LGBT+ community and make characters scream, cry and shout about how "they were turned gay". Which is honestly just harmful (at least from a western point of view, but since I'm a westerner I still don't like them lmao).
Personally I just think that different places, countries, cultures have different perceptions of gender and sexuality. That is partly why I don't really feel the need to label characters and I only care about how they are written. However I still think I'm justified for being overjoyed in seeing good explicitly, canonly bi charas.
Sorry for this long answer, your answer really made me think and I didn't want to sound too dumb. Sorry if something isn't understandable, I only ever use English on the Internet.
ya, i'm aware of that. i was just answering your wondering about hyungwoo. and if he happened to have mutual feelings toward dohyeon, it most likely because he also likes dohyeon not because he's a bisexual. learning from his dating experience and his focus was only always about loveru
irl people practically just the same as these people though. at some phase in life, they might questioning who they are, some like to label themselves, and some who still wondering might give it a try to something new until they found themselves
Are those the bi flag colors?? Are we having actual bi rep and not just a "I turned gay because of you" kinda thing????? As a bi person, I really hope so
