Had me wondering… are falcons meant to be as small as a finch? She’s super small

I was was wondering as well. Falcons aren’t big, but certainly not that small to be sat on a palm either.

Depends. There are different types. Some are bigger some are smaller.

I saw someone commented before this that said there’s a small species of falcons. I can’t remember the name tho but yeah there’s. I think that person learned zoology or some sort.

Ooh thx! I went googling and I think it’s called Pygmy falcon, super cute

falconets, kestrels, merlins, and sparrowhawks are small-ish falcon-like birds

See an american kestrel on a finger: http://kestrelfalconry.com/pics/kestrel_glove.jpg

Also there's also this really adorable bird called a pygmy falcon but that is probably too small to use for falconry/message sending:

it's really hard to find a species with the right morphology. (dirty white (with brown specks) underbelly+face, dorsal side brown, wings+tail black tipped with possible bands, yellow eyes+beak+legs, larger male with white breast and brown crest)

Hi! It was me, I believe, since my comments had gathered a lot of attention.
I haven't studied in ornithology nor did I study zoology although I did want to become a vet, as a wee child. The species you are searching for is the Mauritius Kestrel :) I am just very efficient and quick in research.

woah! Discounting the male bird's weird crest, this matches pretty much everything!! I think that crest may just have been there for the cool factor tbh, or to differentiate them? Anyway, thanks! This is awesome!!!

My pleasure :D But as I said, I am just very efficient in gathering and finding information. So it's nothing much. :)
