Could've been wasps or yellow jackets and they just used the general term "bee". Would make sense since it looks like the "bees" followed them when they were running away and they don't die when they sting. Them mfs AGGRESSIVE and WILL follow you.

Since bees die after they sting, did they leave a trail of dead bees. Unless it were carpenter bees or bumble bees, but carpenter bees and bumble bees put out their stingers after they sting, so that wouldn't explain the fact that the doctor had to pull out the stingers?
