I've been watching documentaries with situation like this. Survivors only escape is to kill the suspects or if someone close to them know the situation. I guess the other friend will be the key. Do they even know how to fight? If the killer is stronger than them and skilled than them they wont be able to win easily. Either a trap or something that will put them at advantage would help them but even then its not 100%
Killer knows he is stronger than them, thats why he is careless. If they just stab him im afraid he would just ignore the pain and then try to kill them
Hes also a writer. He considered all of their moves and possible situations and he isnt getting manipulatted and emotional so he has better "brain work" then them. Once again, a writer thinks many steps ahead than some people do.
