This doesn't mean we're happy, it means fear of loneliness (or anybother reason possible) make us cope with a lot of crazy things. So no, you don't need incarnation to make a relationship stable and solid. You just have to give up on your rights and get something in return. It can be a nice place to live, strong partner, affection, etc.
