I believe that Vienna is her real daughter not her niece. Then why would he prioritize his niece instead his daughter.

Actually never mind I hadn’t noticed that Vienna looked somuch like the FLs dad so yeah he probably had a mistress while his wife was sick cuz the mom died when the FL was around 4-5 right… Vienna is younger than the FL not by much tho
in real life I've seen fathers that despises their daughter but I've never seen a father that wants his niece to be his daughter. weird
