Not really that strange. Having a crush on your step-sibling who is also the same gender as you is basically the ultimate taboo. He treats his brother poorly in order to distance himself.

He does have his own! but I'm kinda sad because I wanted him with his step brother Nao. lol =( the characters looks really compatible. Hayate is paired up with someone with more energy than Nao though--
