as someone whos coping bechanism is laughing while crying i relate to her a bit in this situation
whenever i was forced (by school or camps) to go to parties surrounded by people and loud music that i can feel its waves go trough my head and stomach it can be very overwhelming and i become anxious to the point i start to cry.
I guess she was also stressed out about this whole situation so rather than judging her i understand her.
Said this in case anyone would be wondering why shes crying. I am not 100% sure thats the reason but thats the closest i can understand her.
She was also given her mother's ribbon as her coming-of-age birthday present as well, so I'm sure it's also out grief as well.

the crying and laugh scene... for me its not cringe at all, as she doesnt has anyone to lean on or ask for help. That was her way to comfort herself so its not something we should laugh at or look down at.
