Sigh

There’s a difference between commenters/translators asking questions or holding false perceptions due to misinformation versus the people who purposely don’t give a damn to know or care. Stop yelling at the first type and educate instead of berating…plus, being an ally to the mental health community doesn’t mean speaking for us as if you are us. I personally don’t feel the need to be protected like I’m an idiot or an invalid. Neither do the people I personally know (btw, I have a family member with DID and one of her alters is “violent”, usually when trying to defend herself against assumed threats. But that’s because of how she came about in the first place).

Toji’s Worm apologized for theorizing that Haru has DID. Which is fair. It’s a psychological manhua and wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility considering the subject matter the story is about. Not sure why someone flew off the handle and attacked the uploader about it but the uploader is classy about it and handled it gracefully, as usual. (▰˘◡˘▰)

Maybe they are upset because did isn't necessarily "split personality"

Yeah, I think they got mad because it’s not accurately portrayed (if that’s what it is) in the Manhua. In my opinion, it’s a work of fiction and needs to be taken with a grain of salt. It might not be DID. He obviously suffers from severe PTSD, he’s obviously having physical symptoms from being an anomaly on top of physical symptoms that are triggered in response to stress, he is not in a psychologically sound state of mind, and it’s plausible that the trauma caused him to have some form of DID in this fantasy land/made up scenario. It may or may not be textbook, it may not be DID at all. Why people would take the theory the uploader announced so personally and attack them for it is beyond me. If they have an issue with potentially inappropriate representation of the disorder our ML may or may not have them they should purchase the manhua and complain to the author. Just my two cents. For what they’re worth. Lol. It is the Internet though and we are all entitled to our opinions, I just wish some people would learn a little grace when giving theirs. ( ̄∇ ̄")

Regardless, It didn’t call for the attacks that people have been receiving lol. The translator either. Misconceptions about mental health are very very common and usually not done so in malice. I mean look at the movie “split” LMAO. It was like a worldwide trend for a long time and it’s based on a comic book. I hate seeing people attacked when they really were just miseducated in the first place

I agree with this. I was more so irritated by the so called “defenders of mental health.” I replied to a comment somewhere on here about why people might think Haru has DID/what the author may be trying to say, and randoms came out calling me an idiot and hitting me with angry paragraphs. Lol. The people who think every mental health condition is perfectly textbook or 100% displayed in a stereotypic way, are fools. And probably don’t have any issues themselves. Don’t let people attack you or others for asking questions/being curious on mental health disorders. We aren’t all self entitled pricks. Unless you say something completely rude about said disorder (●'◡'●)ノ

Oh I see what your saying. This is all fiction so its not necessary exact to disorders and may portray something like did but more fictional

Exactly. Also, as a psychologist myself, I can confidently say that each case will not present itself in the same way. Everyone is in a unique situation, socially, financially, physically, with various underlying conditions and comorbid conditions, all of which contribute to how a specific psychological condition, such as DID, presents itself. Taking into account both the fact that presentation of each psychological condition is unique for each individual (even if certain conditions must be met for a diagnosis as per the DSM5) and that it’s a work of fiction, it’s safe to say that there’s a lot of over-reaction in response to a theory about a potential condition that the author is just using for a literary device in order to drive the story forward. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
