like, he may have had epilepsy all his life, but what he died of seems more like mercury poisoning or something. he was steadily poisoned, leading to his limbs failing and his brain deteriorating.
I think it might have been arsenic poisoning. That would explain why the bezoars seemed to help.

also i am convinced that disgusting brother poisoned the lover ugh. i mean, why would he have a whole arsenal of a rare medicine the richest among the rich can't get a hold of? does he just shit them out? no, and bc none of the servants have ever seen something so rare and expensive, he can just dish them this convenient lie and get away with murder while simultaneously looking selfless and ready to help. why else would he say to our MC that he's waiting for him while he's helping "cure" his rival?
