I’m glad the fl didn’t end up with her classmate. The first red flag was the flashback to how he was fixated on protecting his “pitiful” childhood friend because it made him feel like a knight in shining armor. The second red flag was him being in love with the fl because of her unwavering love for another guy. In chapter 25, you can see how he disliked the idea of the fl changing her feelings to him. If she fell in love with him, he would have lost interest in her because that would have went against the image he built of her. Also, when the fl and the childhood friend had soup spilled on them, he ran to help out the childhood friend first rather than the fl, showing his priorities. There's just so many other instances where you could see they wouldn't work out (such as when he only started having fun at the park when his childhood friend came), so I'm confused why people are disappointed that they didn't end up with each other in the end.

Another thing that I don't understand is why people thought the ex-girlfriend was treated unfairly. The relationship she had with the ml was just appearances and nothing else. She made it that way. She repeatedly showed how self-absorbed she was and how quick she was to put the blame on others. When her boyfriend came home from a stressful flight, she was more concerned with showing their relationship off than letting him rest. She was really manipulative and passive aggressive to the fl, and she got annoyed when she saw one of her coworkers crying and only pretended to be nice to her for her reputation. Then there were those multiple instances where she was disrespectful about the ml's family situation, calling his family fake and seeing them as a disadvantage to his image.

Finally, I disagree that the fl and ml lack chemistry. The reason why they were being awkward with each other for a good chunk of the story is because of the obstacles they were facing: the vindictive ex-girlfriend, the family situation, and the ml's trust issues due to his history. However, once they resolved those issues, you could see they really helped fill each other's needs and were incredibly happy being together. They could depend on one another and be honest about their feelings. I honestly found them to be super cute together.

All in all, I'm happy that I gave this story a chance.
