In the novel - cayena goes to meet Raphael and they have a lil misunderstanding, also the meeting is set up like a date cause raphael’s secretary tries to be Cupid.
Afterwards cayena leaves for her carriage but notices rhe driver is different so she sends her made ( OG FL) forgot her name away so that she will notice if something is wrong, then cayena is kidnapped by Henverton’s guys, maid notices and runs but is attacked by the carriage guys
other helper, Raphael intervenes this and asks the maid the heck going on, when maid says cayena was kidnapped, raphy gets hella mad and pulls out all the stops to save her.
Cayena is with henverton’s men but some are the prince’s aid’s men(guy talking with henvy) and the plan was to frame henverton while taking cayena from them to have for himself. Some of the men are the archduke as as well.
The maid forces her way to Rezef after this and tells him the go, he breaks out of probation to save cayena, but Raphael beats him there cause he went boss mode and became duke ASAP.
And RAPHAEL AND CAYENA FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR FEELINGS
they kiss!!!
Rezef notices how close they are and gets hella jealous and angry at Raphael, then super protective over cayena.

Rezef gets Cayena’s nanny assassinated and makes it look like a suicide but cause raphael’s people show up they weren’t able to finish so it was obvious it was Rezef.
Cayena finds out when Raphael gives her the letter from the nanny, she then loses all hope for Rezef and decides that she will give up her plan to move away and decides she will do anything so rezef isn’t the emperor.
She even tells Raphael that even though they both have feelings for each other, that she can’t pursue it because she’s gonna do some bad stuff.
But Raphael pretty much says hey I ain’t a good boy either and says he’ll support her （/TДT)/
