Dw there's a lot budding friendship and respect between characters and everyone's cheering each other on. I love the dynamic between the characters and how they work together as teams. However it does focus more on strategy, and friendship isn't exactly a main element of the story. It's there, however not as thoroughly explored but I /can/ see it being more prevalent later on in the Manga, though everyone's just caught up on trying to score goals and win at the moment.
Also no, there's a lot of rivalry and stuff but everyone has a team and they have to make it work somehow because they're all strikers. I'm just gonna copy and paste some sections of a reddit post explaining it cuz I'm too lazy lmao
There's different stages and players and their teams have to climb up to the top selections
"The Blue Lock is divided into 5 different strata with 5 teams in each of them. The 25 teams range from B to Z with B being the best and Z the worst. Every player was assigned a rank reaching from 1 to 300."
"With the 11 players now selected, (soccer has 11 players in a team) the first selection begins, it is a tournament in which the five teams from the stratum play against each other, but only the two best teams will advance. The second rule is that the top scorers from each losing team will also progress."
As for the later selections, they're pretty unique, but I don't want to spoil much. At first, the characters struggle to work together but eventually develop a functional dynamic to score goals and wins. Sorry if this sounds too confusing ( ̄∇ ̄")
I want to read this manga, but ngl, I normally like the friendship in sport manga, and I've heard this story is like a battle royal...┗( T﹏T )┛So everyone is rivals/enemies 24/7? Can someone give me more details? :'(
