The reason he’s being nice is because in his past life he regretted his actions and was brought back to the past so now he wants to give her and his son a good life.
There are two reincarnation stories happening in this story since they both are returners. He is following the "I fucked up in my past life so I'm gonna be good during my second life" path. Under normal circumstances for a story like this, she wouldn't remember her past life, so she would probably be falling for him right now.

He needs to properly apologize regardless, but especially since she has a lifetime worth of horrid memories leading to her tragic death. He will never gain her favor by just being nice all of a sudden because this version of her no longer desires his attention.
It's kind of interesting to read. I hope they get a divorce after they are done working together to solve the weirdness happening on their estate. It will be a more realistic ending.
Did I read that correctly, they both don't know that the other reincarnated, so how is he supposed to apologize, I'm sure he's thinking he'll look like a crazy person. Sure he could apologize for before the FL got pregnant cause I'm pretty sure he just ignored her(right?) But why can't he be nice now? It's like saying you fucked up once now you can't redeem yourself this time. Cause this is the first time he remembers his past life, why can't he?

It's about her mindset more than anything else.
There are a plethora of bad things that happened before and during her pregnancy that he should apologize for. And things that he can explain, like the messy deal he made with her father. That would go a long way to getting her to warm up to him than "suddenly" being nice.
If this were a different type of story and he was the only returner, the ordinal her, starved for love, would have most likely forgiven him by now. We have seen the thought processes of the current her. She is 100% focused on her kid. She's accepted his niceness because it benefits her son. There is no room for him in an romantic way within her heart.
There is nothing wrong with him being nice. It just obviously isn't working.

Honestly I have to agree with this statement. But what you said in the first post really didn't make sense to me.

This part mainly because, while yes, there are two reincarnations happening, this is the first time ML is remembering his past life. The things ,I think, he needs to do is one- what you said about about needing to apologize for being a dick before and while she was pregnant then he could play "nice husband".
Regarding the deal he made with FL "father", the ML was looking for power, so he accepted and in return he had to not care for FL. However when he realized that this was a fucked up situation and that he now had power he wanted to change this, therefore he tried too. But he was sent off to war and was kept there for however long. And while he was away the FL's "father" made life a living a hell for her, giving her child to the ML's ex etc. And when the ML did finally come back the FL was already on her deathbed, his child was attached to the ex etc. there was literally nothing he could do at that point and that was how things played out for the rest of FL's past lives up until now...when they both remember. And therefore now that he remembers and he isn't going to let this life play out like that.( I mean buh-)
So yes, he should explain this to FL and apologize but people shouldn't bash him for that. Given the shitty back story chapters the we got for ML, I can see why he accepted the deal, and therefore I can kind of forgive him for that.
But honestly you're the only person here who has some actual good explanations while others are saying "ML fucked up so I won't forgive him no matter he does Hehehe!" (that's and evil laugh btw xD)
(I probably mixed up somethings and got my explanations wrong, just point anything out I'll come back and explain my opinion in more detail if you want. ^^ looking forward to having a calm conversation about this plot.) （￣へ￣）
Why is he acting like THAT......dude you were RUDE and MEAN and INDIFFERENT to her and you didn't even repent or regret this ,and now.......don't do this it makes me want to hate you more.
