He joined the club because he had a “free” time and joined it for fun. So she is disappointed and sad how her boyfriend lied to her

Is it just me or is the her friend being a little too controlling with her boyfriend? Why does he need permission from her to be able to join a club? Like he looks so haggard and tired trying to deal with her! I get where’d she’s coming from that they’re not seeing each other as much but isn’t she a little too much on the part where he has to tell her every little thing???
