I kind of understand your view, but I think we have to remember that the mc actually came in a whole new world, had to understand a new conception with the beasts and everything. And on top of it, he got "kidnapped", auctionned, sold and almost r4p3d by a beast. That's why even though he may have liked him, you kinda want to go back home you know? Where you know how things work, where you feel at most secure.
But our snake boy also lied to him so I think it was fair enough~

I'm happy that ended up together and stuff but i'm upset he left in the first and immediately realized his feeling for the sacred beast. like he really played with his feelings by leaving him like that ╥﹏╥
