We were tossing around the idea that her parents died because they were harboring him (he was the childhood friend). He feels guilty for their deaths and causing this to happen to her (though it isn't his fault)

There is no use regretting something that already happened, everything happened for a reasons and aomethings come at the right time. I think the time that you came was just perfect, before she ended up in another terrible man's hands. Because she staying with the old husband would have been better considering he wouldn't have raped her. The new husband probably would
