Because it feels empty. I don't know, but it seems like there isn't any actual development for the characters. They all seem to be stuck in the past. I can see why people wouldn't like it.

sorry I don't really remember much about these stories aside from the general premise, so maybe you're right about the character development
I don't know if I would like it just as much if I were to read it now but also, I don't feel like rereading it either
i read all 3 mangas of this story and i can't understand why all 3 have such low ratings, its mind boggling...
they're well written, the art is amazing and the mc rio is a complicated character with so much development which is so so rare to see in bl !!
it's almost like a pattern, whenever i find a non cliched bl manga that's not relying on smut for plot it ends up being rated low...
