It'd be really easy for him to take advantage of the uke since he's so innocent and rather dumb, but he's always directing the conversation in a way to make the uke understand his own feelings and voice what he wants. Also, what's wrong with starting a relationship even though your feelings aren't equal to each other? Sounds like a lot of you don't actually have much romantic experience.
