doesn't it clear in three or four chapters before this that maetel is the father? or do you not see when he opened the wardrobe and there were plenty of wigs. one with red color. that's a big hint though
but maetel and louis probably still don't know because maetel thought louis slept with another guy other than him and got pregnant by them, and louis thought it was another duke with red hair because he was drunk that night
That’s true, if only the 2 could communicate for once, they could see that Louis never drank until that one night stand (I’m pretty sure it was mentioned?), and Matael was the one in a wig who done did the devil’s tango with Louis
