I FORGOT- but mc has a slight connection with a goddess due to her blood in the royal family.. so when she got hit during the war her soul went into a bird's body while her body seems to be just still, with no soul.

She could be in a coma. I mean her soul is out of her body, but she may still be alive. Like an astral projection or an out-of-body experience (OBE). She could be sleeping, thus, unable to write letters or do anything at all.
