sexism in bl

a total fucking turn off for the story (not sexual). why do they always have to say “like a woman”, “make you a woman” and etc?? are women just sexual objects to you bastards? what in the ever living fuck is wrong with you. this is why most bl makes me so angry, males are always referred to as females for no reason other than assigning a gender to a sexual position, setting up a power dynamic and objectifying women. fuck this shit, even if i found myself somehow even slightly liking the plot (which i didn’t), the amount of times women were done dirty has pissed me off passed the point of no return.

ikr this is why sometimes i don't like reading bl's anymore. and even i'm a girl myself i sometimes feel ashamed that most people always see girls/women as a breeding machine or a weakling. and when a female can accomplish something big most will say "you're just a girl but you can even do this and that". most look down on females and it makes me furious.

I agree!!! I also don't like the uke/seme stereotypes where it's so obvious the uke is supposed to be "the woman" in the relationship and have the (oftentimes negative) characteristics they associate with women.

I think we've all seen the shy, meek, blushing, innocent, submissive and subservient uke. Alternatively the promiscuous one that that have lots of sex, although never in an empowering way and almost always in a destructive, self-degrading way. An actual talented, successful, powerful and kind uke is extremely hard to come by. If they are powerful they are almost always somehow evil or have slept their way to the top. As if implying that women can't or shouldn't be in position of power, and if they are they of course have used their bodies to get there or they are bad people and need to be punished (sometimes sexually).

Honestly, the negative way women are portrayed is one of the reasons I stopped reading straight romance stories, but the stereotypes are still there, just put one the uke instead of the woman.

Another thing about the sex itself is that the uke's erogenous zones are made to correlate to women's. I don't have a problem with them liking their nipples and butt touched but sometime's it's as if their dick don't even exist (oftentimes very small as well). I mean the amount of ukes giving blowjobs to semes are overwhelmingly more common than semes giving it to ukes. Also tying into the stereotype that women should please and go down on men without expecting getting anything in return. That's how it often is I guess but it doesn't make me any happier reading about it.

The whole mpreg trend that is getting more and more popular is just the icing of the cake of making the ukes more like women. Honestly I find it pretty weird but for each their own. And it's not like I dislike all mpreg stories, I absolutely love some of them, although I can generally go without the pregnancies and children. Then again I'm not very interested in pregnancies in straight romances either. I can understand why they do it though. Going by the comment sections most people love it. And it enables them to have a more "complete" family. It kinda circumvents the problems actual gay people face though. Personally I think it could be interesting to see them opt for adoption or something else instead but so far I don't think I've seen it.

About actual women in BL they are often portrayed badly. For example the seductress trying to get the seme, in which case her sexuality is generally portrayed in an immoral light. I've seen the seme even slut-shaming her to her face, like "I won't sleep with a bitch that opens her legs for anyone". Another thing I've seen sometimes is that the seme is having sex with a woman and treats her badly as a way of showing us readers how much he's into the uke. Like the woman giving him a bj and he just pushes her aside and leaves (because the uke is better). Still very rude!

Sorry for looooooong rant ahaha. I've just noticed these things a lot lately and it really annoys me.

This!!! Oh my god I don't think I could've said it better than you, this is something that pisses me off so much about yaoi! It's not only disrespectful and shitty towards women, it's shitty towards gay people as well. And although it is true that with some gay couples the same person will bottom most of the time because they prefer it, that isn't always the case. But in yaoi, ofc the same person always has to bottom because they are "the women" and someone in that role can't be on top. I try not to let it piss me off too much but when so many stories have the same harmful negative tropes it pisses me off (don't even get me started in the r*pe trope). Like it really wouldn't be that bad if this was stuff in just a handful of yaoi but the fact that it really is like 90% of what you'll find is frustrating.
