→It's ancient china. where females had little social standing. be it a royal or commoner.So u can't accuse the author for treating them bad.

→those concubines... they r not treated bad cz they are female but cz they tried to overrun their master..It's not about male/female.. lower ranking people’s life & death are at the mercy of their house master. so even if it was another boy, they would be dead too..
