y'all acting like internalized homophobia isn't a thing, mans grew up being taught that being a coward is good, ofc he's oughta be frustrated about his feelings and ran away from it. It's actually realistic irl, but it's great that he self reflected and got over it. Remember when he said "it's just normal" when he kissed kaede? yeah cause he got scared that he won't be normal again if he pursued his love for him. Bottomline he was raging in the closet and that's understandable.
