That one I understood because she was right, it's not like there's a lock on the carriage door. She's screwed whether she stays or not so it didn't matter.

I understand that she wants to understand how drastically the future has changed just by her survival, but she literally could have found that out from being told about the fires! In fact she already comes to her conclusion that they never existed in the book before she goes to see the burnt building out of what I guess is disbelief or denial that the story is changing??
Or the scene where she runs after the cat that stole her ribbon?? It's a stupid ribbon! She can get another! Why is that more important than her worries about getting killed over being a murder witness?? Why was she outside in the dark and alone in the first place if she's supposed to be so scared of the Duke????? It makes no sense!!
But yeah, that's all to say that the carriage one isn't that bad by far and is actually realistic in that, although she realized she was likely going to get kidnapped, there was nothing she could do about in the first place. Might as well walk out with dignity instead of being dragged out while fearfully sobbing. Help is nowhere nearby.
But yes, she's so fucking stupid sometimes that I'm wondering if I should drop or not. I know it's gonna be just like every other thing in this genre where she says she'll run away but ends up staying and falling in love with him, despite being forced to marry him in the first place.
