While I, too, felt it was Arth, I based that on his personal dealings with that incompetent spoiled brat Johannes, his disgust with the emperor and his talk with Payne trying to convince him to step up and fight for the throne to save the empire. I love when binge readers comment because everything is fresh in their minds. I’d forgotten about the sweets thing and studying herbs. That’s how he was able to poison just the emperor. My only thought now is if there was an accomplice, maybe Rebecca.
Now, Payne is looking like an emperor. He’s calm, authoritative and sensitive to the political issues this involves. At the same time, Arth is impressing the men around him by taking control of the internal investigation. All while the crown prince stumbles, falls, cries and calls names for people getting their priorities straight.
I started reading this today but isn't it obviously arth who poisoned him? Like a few chapters ago he took note the Emperor was the only one in the family that liked sweets, and he was studying herbs.
But I was a little too happy when he fainted
