Valid. it is tiring seeing how brown characters are often portrayed, and a lot of people will downvote or say “its JuST a sTorY” but let it be an issue close to home and they are just as sensitive. it hits different when art often imitates people’s real biases and hella ppl move through the world with the same energy as toxic tropes they claim are just stories
I'm black and of course this story made me reasonably uncomfortable. I mean it's romanticizing slavery so of course I'm uncomfortable but I still kept going.
Art style is pretty and I wanted to continue to see where it went and then the MC gets raped. By the guy he's supposed to be with in the end too no less. I dropped it around that point. I tried to continue but I couldn't. I was too uncomfortable and disgusted.
I’m saying this because this story is problematic and I think this needs to be addressed. And yes I get it’s fiction but my feelings about it are real and I feel like my voice needs to be heard. You can enjoy this story because literally no one is stopping you. I’m just giving my thoughts on the matter.
