I agree
I ended up thinking they always place their stories in complete alternate earths like earth1 and earth2... like they do in Marvel and DC universes to make sense of it cause whether romance, action, horror, etc they tend to make the crime, punishment, and ridiculous treatment and/or situations unbelievable even for the countries they mention so often.
No. They're not respecting the law. They're respecting the power that man still holds over them. The law is secondary. They can't get what they want without following his will just because he holds that much more power than they do. If he were someone weaker than them many rich and wealthy people would try to and do find loopholes in such contracts and do things without fear of reprisal.
So according to this the male lead is weak but yet so far no one has called him as such, only defended him. Really makes one wonder. And you should have read what he DID just do when she didn't comply. Yet you said there's no way he could force her to marry him. She's out on the streets with her kid now. Yet he can't force her? Pffffftttt!
Law is power. The wealthy in this modern world can get away with crimes unjustified because they are in the same circle as those with authority i.e politicians.
But if MC goes to the police and reports it, do you really think the police will just show her the door? Sure, they can afford the best defense lawyers and by using their money they might be able to withdraw the charges against them but as a CEO, his reputation will be tainted, and as a businessman, something as huge as forcing marriage upon a weak powerless woman will have the public hold him in contempt and how will he show his face around?
Nah, the public will always side with the common folks but author is set on taking the damsel in distress route
My god what’s wrong with this pathetic woman? Nobody can force someone to marry due to a will. Set down your foot and say no. What’s hard about that? It’s not like this rich dude can just kidnap her in broad daylight and throw her in front of a priest.
Nobody’s demanding a sassy smart character but this is just super annoying cliche.
