actually i think he put her there to protect her and was planning to save her later :( thats why he said “endure it” and gave her a knife to maybe protect herself. i think the author was trying to mislead us into thinking that the father was evil ?
He couldn’t openly love his daughter due to the fact that weak ass emperor has control over him. But the father gave her the knife in case something happens before the prince comes to save her, the “endure it” part probably means that she will have to fight her way in case something happens
