Unrelated survey

I wonder if it's necessary for every otome Isekai to have dramas in banquet/ ballroom/ dining hall etc? Is this what most women fantasize? Although I am one, I genuinely cannot relate.

EDIT1: Thanks for the insightful replies you wonderful people!

EDIT2: Oh shit. All the comments just disappeared. I'm so dumb totally not the right place to collect survey

Maybe it’s because the story setting is more elegant and vintage ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

    You don't find it repetitive?

Not exactly, it's only like this because the plot is about nobility and romance and harem and shit like that. There are some other time isekai that I've read that do not have anything related to the typical nobles and harem trope, it's just that this characteristics and scenes are very popular right now.

Sometimes people just dream to live in these eras or worlds lol.

uhmm i think its because historically speaking these events are actually very common in the past? like these banquets are their only means of social interaction back in the day. its not like people can interact with social media before. and without any interactions with the characters, the story couldn't progress. so yeah

Eh, it's the trend rn, it'll change soon after people have found the next shiny new thing. After all, otome isekai itself is a fairly new subtrope afterall.

This is same with in a modern romance story they are going to work or school.

Well they’re venues with many people to witness the drama. It’s no fun if there’s no audience.

And it's already about an otome game, in a novel, with a character knowing it, etc, with game settings and all.
The interesting part is what comes later, what the author choose to do with that setting because there are good twists. ;)

Exactly. I think most isekais nowadays are self-insert, shoujo or shounen, it's trying to fit in all the characteristics that normal people do not have but they desire. That's why I'm not very fond of current isekais, it only fulfill the certain group's fantasy by reusing the same tropes.

Cinderella trope has existed since 1950s and am pretty sure it will keep existing in whatever shoujo genre. They only change certain elements of the story, but the essence is the same.
