It's a medicine that's bad for her. It basically will stop her period after extended use and make her nauseous a lot and cause other problems, but they can be mistaken as pregnancy symptoms. It seems like the parents are trying to get her to tell winter she's pregnant cuz he knows they can't have kids together and he'll think she cheated or something. They're planning something bad like that
It also could be the reason the in-laws put her "rented" land under Carson Low. Probably set them up to meet after the believe the medicine has taken enough time to start effecting her.
