I dont think she was being protective of him I think she was trying to protect herself
You are probably right. But a small part of me wishes that she had been hit by a car or something. Preferably that she's alive, and now is well, and has been searching for her son the whole time. I'd even take her being dead over her abandoning him
I wonder why the mother abandoned him so flippantly when she was really overprotective of him at first? Was it because she realized how tiring it would be or something? Seems weird to abandon your child just like that.
