Innate mother instincts is the result of having emotional bond with the child, yes..
but does not mean that someone will not have common sense to be careful with one's self since someone is growing inside you.. I think common sense will tell you to be careful.
Even children tend to be more careful or understanding around pregnant woman..

That means he has no innate maternal instinct and plus he was planning to abjieort* the kid. I would rather blame Maetel and his magical, no sex differentiating sperm. Like why'd you give Louis something he, most likely, can't properly take care of?
