In Japanese manga? Tbh I assumed that’s bcz it’s more of a Chinese trope; I’ve never rlly seen it in fiction (be it a novel or manhwa/manga) made outside of China. Like, for example, in western fiction (especially American novels) there’s a large amount of Faerie/Fae/“A court of...” style YA novels & ive never really seen that in fiction from other cultures even tho it’s so big here. Like IMO it’s just down to the trends in the individual countries?? Maybe the quick transmigration plot is only big in Chinese fiction for that reason. Also like how Japan is rlly big on the whole male-protag ‘isekai into a fantasy world with elf girls and monsters’ thing. I could be wrong tho

There’s a few manhua that have them like Cheating Men Must Die and Expert Boyfriend Snatcher. There’s more like the Antagonist Goddess attacks which is popular but I’ve only read the other two.

Similarly, like what’s been said it’s a Chinese troupe and Chinese media is less popular to the western audience compared to Japan and Korea. Therefore, less of if makes it way here.

Recently, Korean manhwas and webtoons have become somewhat revolutionary giving popularity to older korean manhwas like Totally Captivated. Added in the Hallyu Stars and Kpop there’s a big boom.

Also, China has a lot of censorship and red tape. Quick Transmigration actually violates one of them I think, I’m not too educated about them but something about religion and reincarnation or something.

BL itself violates some censorship as well as smut. I believe some authors were even jailed for it. This prevents the media from spreading and becoming popular. A lot of donghua released in Covid breaks these censorship so I don’t know if they’re still that strict.

Again, I’m not that knowledgeable about it but this would probably explain what you’re asking. There are better sources out there.

Unpopular opinion but I actually didn’t like QWFD. I thought the MC and the ML were pretty harsh. I did like Reborn as a System and Holding on to My Man (which was completed recently). Should I pick it up again? I didn’t get too far in and everyone seems to like it.

Sidenote:an underrated bl novel I recommend is Mistakenly Saved the Villain. It’s really good. All those tags on it aren’t about the main pairing. The ML is yandere but their relationship is wholesome and full of consent.

You need to understand a couple things... like mc doesn't care a lot about those worlds... he already spent a long long long time being forced to act the villain in them. And he wasn't really a "good guy" in his Og world. Actually he was a criminal on the run so... yeah... I don't wanna give much spoiler about the ml... but he is the embodiment of an warrior and he is not the system nor the "lord god" that's all I'll say. Oh and that at some point the Mc is the one that goes to court him.

If your point is consent... there's only a few where the mc is not fully consenting... at least for some time. After the 1st arc for some arcs until he notices they are all the same person, and 3 where he doesn't recognize the ml at first. 1 cuz he was the ml of that world and technically in love with the mc of sayd world. 2 cuz... cof... he raised him from childhood... and ml did a good job of controlling himself until mc wants to leave to find his "destined lover" but as soon as he finds out he's ok with it. 3 cuz... well this arc is actually kinda fun... cuz he causes himself to have a split personality... and in that one he also only find out his identity almost in the end of the arc....

Maybe you'll like more from the point he goes to worlds he has been to as villain and get his sweet revenge... but yeah... the ml is the possessive kind... but the mc likes it... he even finds funny sometimes... and he is kinda... very possessive too... like in the worlds the ml incarnates on the ml of the world or a 2nd ml of the world and is in love with someone else before meeting our mc... he tends to play innocent and hard to get as "punishment" for the ml... xD so... they are 2 perverts that suit each other well...

Bl always have dubious consent problems... few are the ones who doesn't.

There's also Low IQ Supporting Female, Waiting for Death Online with a female mc and no romance through the worlds that I liked... even more because of who the ml turned out to be... I liked it to the point of reading the mtl (rip brain)xD
