I think it already showed how the shadows were made in the earlier chapters. The one where they were sleeping on the table then some little soots were around them.

Maybe someone that escaped trying to derail the shadow house, Is picking Emilyko to do it...? I don't know but it seems like the village people are like brainwashed into thinking the shadow house is good. I still don't get how shadows are made. Circuses mostly put on shows town to town, so maybe Emilyko might remember something. Ughhhhh there are probably so many clues that we all missed. THIS IS WHY I LIVE FOR MYSTERY.
