Either he would find a way to make her not love him anymore by another type of lie, or he would push through the pain and stay with her though she wouldn't feel the same. That's what I see him doing if she hadn't moved on from the prince.
If she actually didn't move on, what was he gonna do? Force her to? Leave her be?
