most people want to keep a good relationship with their parents. And most of the time just because they're adults it doesn't mean that the parents still don't have power over their children or some kind of PTSD that makes it hard to go against them even if they are adults.
just bc you are an adult doesn’t mean you have full control about your life, marriage concepts are different to everyone, specially conservative or powerful families, they want the child to be "successful", which means = unhappy marriage with children, otherwise the family can ruin their lives forever
idk I'm pretty sure they do love eachother just that she's also in love with gina. I mean after 16 years she prob thought it was time to move on or smth.
maybe they thought it was love, even tho they only like that person. maybe they were forced to marry or have a relationship with the opposite gender since its the norm and they would get rejectet from there familie or friends if they resisted

i don't get why so many people get married when they're not even in love like having a conservative family is just straight up bs, you're an adult and you can make your own decisions and the husband seems so sweet its just unfair for both.
