I sense the approach of another flashback backstory segment showing us what a bunch of cruddy slimeballs these "Elders" were in her past life. (No, this is not a spoiler since I haven't read the story or raws. It's just a guess.)

    I thought so too. Anyway we're still missing the 4th, 5th, 6th and the beginning of the 7th life. So anything could've happened in them.
