No worries I understand the plot lol, the author in my opinion and just making an inference is taking a historical standpoint where religion was very dominant in European civilization, for example how the birth of Protestant Christianity was condemned, kind of the same thing with any music that is not religious, it’s interesting to me. It’s different then some of the other plots of this genre and I think I enjoy it more than some of the others I have read.
If anything I was bored with the basic plot of hunting the assassins and became more intrigued when she wanted to combat the dominant church authority and ideals lol. I stopped reading this a while ago and started again a couple days ago and once I breezed past that part of her always questioning “who did it” and getting to the issue of dominant religion I found myself not being able to stop reading
lippe isn't furthering a "singing career" she's trying to stop the religious hymns from overpowering and silencing the folk songs bc she's trying to take whatever power she can from them, since they caused the war -.-
