I generally don’t look at what age everyone in a story is. I don’t think it affects the story itself in any significant way; I’ll look at characters and see “an adult”, “a young adult”, “a child” etc. I don’t really need to know that that grandpa is 69, that random shopkeeper 45, the mc 17 etc. I’ll be able to see from how they look who is older or younger, and that’s all I need to know. This is a fictional story, not an article.

I agree, but it is important that people who read this kind of story differentiate between reality and fiction. This author created a story “with an age gap”, not a story “promoting pedophilia in real life”.
I didn’t even read the character profiles, and didn’t know that there was a big age difference until I started going through the comments. To me, age wise, having not read these character profiles because I was not interested, I was labelling them as “adult” and “young adult”. The artist made it obvious through the artwork that there was an age difference between the two characters, but it does not look like a massive age difference.
if these character profiles were not included, no one would (just from looking at the artwork) say that this is a pedo story. Because the characters don’t look like there is a massive age difference between them and their age is not mentioned in the story so far. So to me, the character profiles (and therefore the age of the characters) are unrelated to my enjoyment of the story (tho mind you I’m not really enjoying this story very much anyway). To me, the artwork and plot are way more important. Since this is fiction.
Maybe the author googled age of consent worldwide and put 17 because of that? I’m not entirely sure.
And I do believe that they haven’t had sex, (unless it was mentioned in passing and I skipped past it), in which case I don’t understand why so many people are getting worked up over it.
