All I can say now is the "bakulaw" is actually a "KAPRE" in our myths. They're giants who lived in large trees like "balete". They have a habit of smoking an opium or tobacco. Also the reason why it's foggy around the tree.
The myth here is actually close to what's surrounding the province that I lived before, it's also close to the stories that the elders there like to say as a joke to the kids.
