It's sad

How people settle for less when it comes to translations. The main point about translating webtoons is to entice more willing ppl to purchase the work. If the story isn't clearly translated, it muddles the story, sometimes wrecks the characters personality rendering the webtoon too tedious to read. It loses the reader's interest and sometimes makes them think it's not worth a shot to purchase.

This whole translating thing is not just about making it free for people to read but to help the author have more international readers who'd like to buy their work. So please respect the author's work by translating properly.

Let me just add that this seems a rampant problem in mangago. I hope budding translators here know how important clearly translating webtoons is (especially since it's an unofficial illegal translation) before undertaking such task.

Lol I completely agree with the gist of what you said here, but I just thought it was funny and ironic how you said “so please respect the author’s work by translating properly” yeah no the author would definitely NOT appreciate any kind of illegal translation of their work, even if it’s “proper”

Yeah, for sure. Many illegal translators know this and they've said this lots of times that it's ironic. But again scanlator groups translate webtoons that don't have english translation to help author gain international fans. And ideally, they take their translations down when an official translation is out because their translation is not necessary anymore. However, sadly this is not the case in mangago and that's another can of worms.

ye, i agree w/ you. A lot of scans take down their works whenever there's an english official releases so i think its not bad theyre translating this illegally. besides they also buy the raws from author and support author as well so

Yeah, they usually stop uploading/drop the webtoon once it gets an official translation. But ever since this site got popular last year it seems ppl just don’t care anymore and do whatever they want.

Yeah, plus some people steal and upload traslations from other scan groups. So, even if the scan group takes down their translations, it is still up in hosting sites like this. When the author finds out, hell breaks loose and the scan group gets into lots of trouble. Doesn't help that mods here don't heed warnings from them too.
